Laundry
Stone benchtop - Laundry
A stone benchtop in the laundry is a premium touch that extends the kitchen's quality into the utility space. Whether it's included or charged as an upgrade depends on the builder — but if you're already upgrading kitchen stone, extending it to the laundry is often cheaper than you'd expect.

What is it?
A stone benchtop in the laundry refers to an engineered or natural stone slab on the laundry bench, replacing the standard laminate. It provides water resistance, durability, and a cohesive premium look throughout the home. The stone can match the kitchen benchtop for consistency or use a more economical stone colour.
Why buyers compare it
- A stone laundry bench adds $800–$2,000 but extends the premium feel throughout
- If you're upgrading kitchen stone, extending to the laundry is often a package deal
- Stone in the laundry is more water-resistant than laminate near the trough
- Some builders include stone throughout all wet areas in upper-tier packages
Is it worth upgrading?

Compare My Build Tip
If you're upgrading kitchen stone, ask whether the offcuts from the kitchen slab can be used for the laundry bench. Many kitchen slabs produce enough offcut material for a laundry bench, and some stone suppliers include this at minimal additional cost — a great way to get stone in the laundry for a fraction of the price.
