What is Compare My Build?

An interactive comparison platform for home buyers to evaluate builders, plans, and inclusions in their region side-by-side.

Are internal doors included as standard?

Yes — most builders include standard internal doors (typically flush or minimally profiled doors in a primed finish ready for painting) as part of the base price. Upgrades include higher door profiles (e.g. two-panel, four-panel), taller doors (2340mm vs 2040mm), solid core doors, and different finishes (pre-finished veneer).

What windows are included as standard?

Most builders include standard aluminium-framed single-glazed windows in a fixed range of sizes and types (typically awning and sliding). Upgrades include double glazing, timber frames, larger window sizes, feature window shapes (e.g. circular, arched), and premium hardware.

Is double glazing worth the upgrade cost?

Double glazing improves energy efficiency, reduces noise and reduces condensation. In extreme climates (very hot or very cold), it's generally worth it. In temperate climates, the energy savings may take many years to recoup the cost. If noise is a concern (busy road, flight path), double glazing is very effective.

Should I upgrade to taller internal doors?

Taller doors (2340mm vs standard 2040mm) create a more premium, spacious feel, particularly in homes with high ceilings (2550mm+). They're a relatively affordable upgrade that has a noticeable impact on the perceived quality of the home. If your ceilings are 2550mm or higher, taller doors are worth considering.

Do I need security doors?

Security doors (stainless steel mesh doors like Crimsafe or Amplimesh) provide ventilation while keeping intruders out. They're recommended for front and back doors, particularly in areas where you want to leave the main door open for airflow. Some estates require security doors on certain openings. Check your builder's standard inclusions.
